ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE

بِسْÙ…ِ اللهِ الرَّØْÙ…ٰÙ†ِ الرَّحيمِ

🔎Meeting 15

My beloved students, Active and Passive Voice is the last English material for us in this semestar.

Last year in XI, we have learned about Passive Voice. Do you still remember about it? Yeah...let's check it out on the video for remaining.

🔎Meeting 16

ACTIVE VOICE

In Active Voice, the subject is doing the action  and Object is the one receiving the action.  Active Voice is simpler and easier than passive voice.

Pattern:

Subject(Doer)+Verb + Object (receiver)

Example:

  1. Komang eats the pizza in his room

  • Komang : Subject
  • eats : Verb
  • The Pizza : Object
  • in his room : Adverb of place

Komang is the “doer” (doing something)

“Eats” is the verb (active) that he/ she does

Pizza is the reciever of the action.

2. Johnny Washes the car in the yard.

  • Johnny : Subject
  • Washes : Verb
  • The car : object
  • In the yard : Adverb of place.

“Johnny” is the “doer” (doing something)

“washes” is the verb (active) that he/ she does

“car” is the reciever of the action.

PASSIVE VOICE

In passive Voice,  the subject is receiving the action and the object is the one doing the action. The “doer” is written at the end of the sentence and the receiver is beginning of sentence, we can simply say:

  • “Object” (receiver) becomes “the subject” (receiver)
  • “Subject” (doer) becomes “Object” (doer)

Every Active Voice can be changed  into Passive Voice but still using the Tenses.

The pattern of Passive Voice

Subject (receiver) +be / to be +Verb 3 +by + Object (doer)

  • Be / to be : is, am, are, was, were (depends on the tense and the quantity)
  • V3: Past Participle

Example :

Alexandra takes the book.

“Alexandra” is the “doer” (doing something)

“takes” is the verb (active) that he/ she does

“ book” is the reciever of the action.

The passive Voice :

The book is taken by Alexandra

More Example:

  1. They will sweep the floor      (modal : Will). Menjadi The floor will be Swept by them (using “be”)
  2. Tiffany can open the  big doors (Modal : “can”.) menjadi  The big doors  can be opened by Tiffany (using “Be”)

More examples about active and Passive Voice:

  • Active: Maya closed her shop last week
  • Passive: the shop was closed by Maya last week

  •  Passive: The meeting  will be cancelled by Selena Tomorrow
  •  Active : Selena will cancel the meeting tomorrow.
Silakan dipahami, boleh dicatat, dan tidak perlu dikirim dan difoto.

Selamat belajar

Nepal Rescuers Find 3 Bodies Near Crashed US Marine

Nepalese rescuers on Friday found three bodies near the wreckage of a U.S. Marine helicopter that disappeared earlier this week while on a relief mission in the earthquake-hit Himalayan nation, officials said. Nepal’s Defense Secretary Iswori Poudyal gave no details about the nationalities of the victims. The helicopter was carrying six Marines and two Nepalese army soldiers. The wreckage was found near
Gothali village in the district of Dolakha. The U.S. Embassy in Nepal had no immediate comment Friday.

The discovery of the wreckage, first spotted by a Nepalese army helicopter Friday, followed days of intense search involving U.S. and Nepalese aircraft and even U.S. satellites. The U.S. relief mission was deployed soon after a magnitude-7.8 quake hit April 25, killing more than 8,200 people. It was followed by another magnitude-7.3 quake on Tuesday that killed 117 people and injured 2,800. The second quake was centered between Kathmandu and Mount Everest, and hit hardest in deeply rural parts of the Himalayan foothills, hammering many villages reached only by hiking trails and causing road-blocking landslides. Pamekasan student wins math contest in Romania

Alyssa Diva Mustika, a student from Pamekasan Junior High School, East Java, won the gold medal at the International Mathematics Contest held in Romania between March 22 to 29, Antara news agency reported.

Speaking to journalists, Diva said she was glad that she had been able to win the competition, which she said had been very tight. “Thank God I won. I will study harder,” she said.

Indonesia sent 10 students to the competition in Romania. Diva is not the first Pamekasan student to win an international science competition. Oktavian Latief, a student from SMA Negeri 1 Pamekasan won gold at the International Physics Olympiad in 2006. Another student, Shohibul Maromi, won the same award in 2010.

“I thank Diva for giving a good name to Indonesia and Pamekasan on the international stage,” Pamekasan Regent Kholilurrahman said as quoted by Antara.
