PASSIVE VOICE
In passive Voice, the subject is receiving the action and the object is the one doing the action. The “doer” is written at the end of the sentence and the receiver is beginning of sentence, we can simply say:
- “Object” (receiver) becomes “the subject” (receiver)
- “Subject” (doer) becomes “Object” (doer)
Every Active Voice can be changed into Passive Voice but still using the Tenses.
The pattern of Passive Voice
Subject (receiver) +be / to be +Verb 3 +by +
Object (doer)
|
- Be / to be : is, am, are, was, were (depends on the tense and the quantity)
- V3: Past Participle
Example :
Alexandra takes the book.
“Alexandra” is the
“doer” (doing something) |
“takes” is the verb (active) that
he/ she does |
“ book” is the reciever of the action. |
The passive Voice :
The book is taken by Alexandra
