Have you make a cake? Or an omelette for breakfast? Or something else .Do you know the materials for making it? Or you can make it with the sequenced steps? Okay, the text which tells us about how to make something called procedure.

🔎Meeting 2

Definition

Procedure is a text which tells us about how to make something with sequenced steps/methods. Procedure text explains or helps us how to make or use something.

 

Purpose

·         To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of actions or steps.

·         To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of actions or steps.

 

Structures of Text

1.      Goal / Aims	Contain  the purpose of the text.
2.      Material / Ingredient	Contain  of the materials that used in the process.
3.      Step	Contain of the steps to make something in the goal.

Language Features

·         Use adverbial of sequence / Using temporal conjunction 

       (e.g: first, second, third, the last)

·         Use command / imperative sentence

       (e.g : put the noodles on the . . ., cut the onion. . ., wash the tomatoes. . . )

·         Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate,

       (e.g :  for five minutes, 2 hours, etc)

·         Using action verbs

       e.g : make, take, boil, cook

·         Using Simple Present

Example:

1.     Goal	How to Make An Omelette
2.     Materials	1.   Two eggs 2.   Onions  and Garlic  3.   Chili (if you like spicy) 4.   Salt 5.   Vegetable oil
3.     Steps	1.  Firstly, cut into pieces the garlic, onions, and chili 2.  Second, break the egg into a bowl 3.  Third, put the garlics, onions, chili, and salt into the bowl 4.  Then, mix them gradually 5.  The next step, heat a frying pan 6.  After that, pour the dough into the frying pan, wait until it looks yellowish 7.  Next, lift using spatula and put it in a plate 8.  Finally, omelette is ready to serve

HOW TO MAKE FRIED BANANA

INGREDIENTS :

1 ripe black-skinned plantain or 4 small finger banana (make sure that the banana is sweet

1 egg

1 tsp. sugar

6 Tbs. flour

water

a pinch of salt 

vegetable oil for deep frying 

STEPS / INSTRUCTION :

1. Place flour in a deep mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle of the flour, and add egg, sugar and salt. Add water little by little. Whisk vigorously until batter is evenly smooth for coating and not too thin. If it is too thin, add more flour. 
2. Peel plantain or banana and cut in half lengthwise and then cut again with 4-inch width. Dip into batter to coat generously. 
3. Heat oil in a deep fryer until moderately hot. Place coated plantain or banana in the wok or deep fryer and fry slowly until golden brown and crispy. This usually takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Remove bananas from oil, drain on paper napkins and dry well. 
4. Serve while still warm 

Notes :

TSP = Teaspoon = Sendok Teh

TBS = Tablespoon = Sendok Makan

Plantain = banana = pisang
